I had already published my first Jimmy Song portrait when the man himself messaged me to ask if I could do a cowboy-themed commission. On hindsight, a Wild West-inspired portrait of Jimmy was probably the most appropriate given where he was from (and the general state of the crypto industry).

For the uninitiated, this cartoon references the 1993 Tombstone movie with Kurt Russel as Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer as the very memorable Doc Holliday. I spent an afternoon rewatching this old classic while working on this cartoon, and although it feels a bit dated now, certain ideas — the gentleman cowboy, for instance — are exactly as cool as when I first saw it.

As with all my other work, the details are what make the art really come together, and I took care to include everything from Doc’s ivory pistol to the tiny cup that he was always sipping (presumably) whiskey from. The only thing I adjusted was the hat, which of course needed to match Jimmy’s own taste in headgear.
